The Library Wonders Project

One of my earliest childhood memories is of summer trips to the library. We’d choose our favorite books, devour them in the train they had there, and excitedly check them out to read them over and over until we got to go back for more. I remember the puppet shows, story time and earning a pencil and puffy stickers in the summer reading program. I remember getting in trouble for reading under the covers way past my bedtime. I remember the librarian teaching us how to search the paper card catalog (Eek! Does that make me old?). And 30 years later, I still love books. I love taking my kiddos to Story Time at the library, reading with them at home, and enjoying my own books once they’ve gone to bed.

As a parent, I’ve come to realize how valuable our public libraries are to the community. The resources and benefits to adults are vast, and the programming for children is vital. My hope for the Library Wonders Project is to bring awareness to the many exciting and important library programs available to our community, and to raise money for children’s programming at Ripon Public Library.

Over the last months, I’ve met and worked with some of the most adorable little clients to create special images inspired by popular children’s books. These whimsical scenes starring local babies and young children will appear in a 2020 calendar to raise funds for the Ripon Public Library Children’s Department. Our generous business sponsors have made donations to help cover the cost of printing, and 100% of calendar sales will go directly to the children’s department renovation project.

Calendars will also be for sale at the October 5th Artisan Marketplace Event at Vines & Rushes Winery or at the Ripon Public Library, while supplies last.
